An abysmal day...

Time to be careful really. Market seems to be having some wild swings right now and we are well into the recent upward trend that a pullback should be on the cards. We are also heading into May and the old "sell in May" could be more relevant this year after the recent run.
ReplyDeleteCurrently, the bullish wall of worry is being climbed. Going long now, especially on FTSE 350 stocks that are likely to be pulled by the general market volatility one way or the other regardless of their own newsflow, could backfire because the market could easily sell off from here.
It will be interesting to see the market reaction to US numbers later today. If they come in lower than expected then we could see bigger falls. If the numbers are better than expected we could easily be off to the races again.
And as you predicted, the markets pulled back on weak US data!
DeleteYes, I agree, I need to be very careful now, I have had many of my positions hit their stops in the last 2 days and have lost £14k or so.
I need to either balance my portfolio out with more shorts and maybe just take my profits so far and close all positions for a while and see what the market decides to do.
By the way Seven Pillars - I have been reading your blog and I find it really interesting reading - good job!
